Show Me Your Drawers

Organizing your drawers can feel like a tiny miracle every time you open one and actually find what you need, whether it's your kitchen, dresser, bathroom, or junk drawer (we all have one) that needs some clean out and organization.

Step-by-Step Guide to Organizing Your Drawers

Here’s a simple, no-stress system to organize them like a pro.

1. Empty the Entire Drawer

Yes, all of it. Dump it out, spread it on a clean surface, and prepare to be mildly horrified at what’s been hiding in the back since 2014.

2. Declutter Like a Boss

Ask:

  • Do I use this?

  • Do I need this?

  • Do I even know what this is?

Toss trash, donate duplicates, and relocate anything that doesn’t belong in that drawer. (Spoiler: batteries, Legos, and rubber bands don’t all live together.)

3. Clean the Drawer

Wipe it down. Maybe even line it with a cute drawer liner or some easy-to-clean contact paper for a fresh start.

4. Sort by Category

Group like items together:

  • Kitchen drawer: utensils, tools, measuring spoons

  • Bedroom dresser: underwear, socks, pajamas

  • Bathroom: skincare, hair accessories, first aid

  • Desk drawer: pens, notepads, paper clips

This will help you decide how much space each category needs.

5. Use Organizers or Dividers

You don’t need fancy stuff—dollar store bins, old shoebox lids, or repurposed containers work great. Just give everything a “home” so items don’t float freely and re-clutter in a week.

6. Put Things Back with Intention

Store items by how often you use them:

  • Everyday items in the front

  • Rarely used stuff in the back or bottom

  • Label sections if needed (especially in shared spaces)

7. Maintain Weekly (In 60 Seconds or Less)

Just peek inside once a week and do a 1-minute tidy. That’s it.
