The Month My House Forgets How to Behave

Can we all agree that July is basically one long Saturday?

summer

The kids are home, the kitchen is somehow always dirty, and I'm pretty sure my refrigerator opens itself every 15 minutes because someone is always looking for a snack.

As a professional organizer, people often assume my house stays perfectly organized all summer.

I hate to disappoint you, but... it doesn't.

Summer is meant to be lived in. There are beach towels on the floor, pool bags by the door, and enough water bottles scattered around my house to hydrate the entire neighborhood.

The difference isn't that my home stays perfectly clean—it's that we have systems to help us reset.

Instead of trying to organize everything every day, I focus on a few simple habits:

  • A quick 10-minute evening tidy-up.

  • Returning things to their "home" before bed.

  • One load of laundry a day (most days... let's be realistic).

  • And giving myself permission to let the little things go.

Your house doesn't have to look perfect to be organized.

Organization isn't about impressing your guests. It's about making your life easier.

So this July, enjoy the popsicles, the backyard barbecues, the late bedtimes, and the messy memories. Your home is supposed to be lived in.

And if you find a wet towel on the bathroom floor for the third time today...

Just know you're not alone.

Happy July!

Sasha
